After 13 years of marriage, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen announced their divorce on Friday.
Tom Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Bündchen had hired divorce attorneys and had been dealing with “marital issues,”
Early Friday, the news came out that the couple had been working with a mediator to come to an agreement on both a property settlement and child custody.
Brady, 45, retired in February but later reversed his decision. In August, he took 11 days off from training camp to "deal with personal issues."
In a recent interview, Bündchen, 42, expressed "concerns" about her husband's return to the field after initially retiring last winter.
The couple has two kids: Vivian, age 9, and Benjamin, age 12. Brady and the actor Bridget Moynahan have a 15-year-old son named Jack.
The couple has reportedly been living separately, with Bundchen spotted in Miami and New York without her wedding band.
The couple hired divorce lawyers in early October and had been living separately for the previous few months following a fight.
Reports say that Brady's decision to come out of retirement this offseason was one of the main things that caused their marriage to end.
