Powerball Hits $700 Million 5th Largest Jackpot

The excitement surrounding the Powerball jackpot has led to ticket sales exceeding expectations, making the Oct. 26 drawing the 5th largest in the game's history.

The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday's drawing has risen to $700 million, with a cash option of $335.7 million.

After lottery officials announced no one won Monday night's $637 million grand prize, Wednesday's jackpot was estimated at $680 million.

Tickets for the Powerball drawing can be purchased in Michigan up until 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The drawing takes place at 10:59 p.m.

The current jackpot is the largest Powerball prize of the year, surpassing the $632.6 million jackpot split by players in California and Wisconsin on January 5.

Through October 30, the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission is also running a promotion. With the purchase of any draw or monitor game for $5 or more on a single ticket

According to Mass Lottery, a Randolph player won $100,000 on Oct. 7 after receiving a free promotional ticket while playing Keno.

Players should check their tickets immediately, as a $1 million winner in Warren last year went unclaimed. The money went to the school aid fund.
