Klay Thompson was ejected from a game for the first time in his career during Wednesday's 134-105 loss to the Phoenix Suns.
It was the first time in 759 regular-season and playoff games that the five-time All-Star has kicked off the field.
Devin Booker of Phoenix said that Thompson had been verbally sparring with him for several minutes during the third quarter, telling him over and over that he had four rings.
With 6.30 minutes left in the quarter, the two kept talking to each other and then bumped chests, which got both of them double technicals.
I know that there was chatter on both ends, said Warriors forward Draymond Green. "I think (the Suns) were really upset."
Mikal Bridges walked into Thompson as he was getting up to leave. Thompson pushed Bridges away, and soon after, he got his second technical, which got him kicked out of the game.
Stephen Curry and Chris DeMarco, who is an assistant coach for the Warriors, had to stop Thompson from moving forward.
Seven technical fouls were called between the two teams in the third quarter. All of them were called in less than six minutes.
Green, Warriors coach Steve Kerr, Phoenix players Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton were also given technicals for different outbursts, most of which were directed at the officials.
